Another sport bit the dust this week when it was reported that Floyd Landis might have cheated in taking home the Tour de France, one of the most important sporting events in the world.
“D Dubbya, what do you think about ol’ Floyd’s ride today?”
“Man I don’t know but we’re goin’ racin’ boys, door to door!”
As you might tell, I’m a NASCAR fan too, because they aren’t “athletes” either.
A recent letter to the editor in Golf World said, paraphrasing, that Tiger Woods was not an athlete, but rather a “highly skilled professional”
Could not agree more. In fact, we know he’s not an athlete because he trains, practices, competes and lives drug-free. If he were a real athlete he’d have his friends in front of a grand jury lying their asses off so that they can continue making money from simply knowing him…now that’s what an athlete is.
The biggest shame is that Floyd must be one of the best bike riders in the world or no dose of testosterone would get him that close.
I’m positive that I could go on a 24- hour intravenous feed for six months and not get up the first Pyranese, or is that Pyranee?…maybe to the halfway house (for a CCNC hot dog) , but that’s it.
But instead all we golf fans get is a champion that hit 200-yard approaches into almost every green (on purpose) and bawled like a baby at the conclusion of his first major title since losing his best friend and father.
HMMMM…an “athlete” drugging up to win the ultimate 2-wheeler or men doing all they can to win a golf tournament…You know my vote.
Queen was right…Another one bites the dust.
I blame the French.
