New Year’s Day 2009

Big Pine Gets Wet

What better way to ring in the New Year than jumping into 55 degree water and jumping out into 45 degree air?  Doing it with great friends and family, that’s what.

We had the brilliant idea we needed our own personal Polar Bear Plunge so there it was.  Not being able to breathe for a minute or two is a great way to put things in a little perspective.  Not being one to really buy into the New Year’s resolution silliness, today made me think of a few things I’m going to try in 2009.

1.  I’m going to stop making fun of the belly putter.  If I used one I’d probably stop shooting 82 in every single %$#*@ round I play.

Son Michael says "BURRR"

2.   I’m not going to smoke anymore

3.  I’m going to accept more invitations to play golf and not worry about the work so much

4.  I’m going to take my kids fishing a lot

5.  I’m going to learn how to cook…really cook

6.  I’m going to go to mass every now and then

7. I’m going to catch a bonefish on a flyrod

churchsignOK, that’s all I have for now.

I can only hope you have the wife, family, friends, and business partners I do…if so then we are both truly blessed.

Cheers and I look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

Rumor has it there was someone over the age of 25 in a Speedo?!?!?

    Here’s my list….
    1. Get to the driving range more often
    2. Learn to catch a fly ball (but only if they let me back on to the softball team)
    3. Comment on uncle dodo’s blog
    4. Go to the lake more often (booze cruises do not count)
    5. Less people watching and more reading on the CTA
    6. Hang out in Wrigleyville no more than once a month, (but when I’m there, learn the lyrics to “Go Cubs, Go”

    Happy New Year!

Great to see a new post (if an old get-up on Andy) on one of my favorite blogs. No list from me, but I sure admire yours. Good luck with the smoking – I’m pulling for you. No luck, I hope, with the belly putter. And here’s hoping you get that bonefish!

Allison, lucky for we-know who I can’t find the cord to download the Speedo evidence…as soon as I do though watch this space!!

The Polar Plunge was great. I have not laugh that much in years. Think you should make it an annual event. Big Pine in his housecoat, Tadpole in the speedo, Rick in the spa robe
