Milligan, The Famous Golf Instructor

Lee Milligan, a famous golf instructor passed away this Monday. He was the coach of Andy North, the two time US Open Champion. Lee was suffering from various complications for the spinal injury and was aged 81 when he died. Lee was a very good basketball player and also a great golfer at the same time.

On hearing the news everyone in the golf industry was very depressed. People who were close to him were sharing his records and was explaining what great person he was. Andy North was all tears after he got the news. He was recalling the days when his father had to drive him for more than 100 miles so that he got proper lessons from Lee. Lee was hired first in Chicago for Barrington Hills Country Club. North continued about Lee saying how special Lee was for him and he hailed him as one of the great people he ever met. He had the ability to make everyone happy around him.

People close to Lee said so many good things about him. They told the reporters how positive he always was and on top of that he had a great sense of humor. He was one such person who had the ability to make things work just like that. Once you knew Lee it was hard to stay away from him.

Andy North, a golf commentator says that he was like a child to Lee and was treated like a family member every time he visited Lee’s place. There is a special section in the autobiography of Lee Milligan where Andy talks about the experiences with Lee. There are also photos with Lee and how he trained him. His family members are deeply aggrieved due to this.

Rickie Fowler happy with Australian PGA

It had been more than an hour since Australian golfer Adam Scott had taken the Australian PGA title and had been presented with his trophy when the media found American Rickie Fowler still standing along the championship greens and signing autographs for the fans.

Fowler, who finished as the runner up to Scott in the Australian PGA at Pines, looked far from bitter at having lost the title to the weather. Fowler, at one point, was in a superior position to challenge Scott but the inclement weather, which forced the officials to stop the play for some time, halted the momentum he had built up and enabled Scott to build on his one stroke lead as he ran out the winner with four shots.

However, the youngster who had been hailed as the new Tiger Woods when he first burst onto the scene was happy that he was able to share the space with Scott. Rickie Fowler stated that it was obvious that he was not going to win the title but it was still a pleasure, being able to stand alongside Adam Scott and seeing him win the title in front of his home fans. He also hailed the support they had received throughout the weekend and mentioned that it had been the highlight of the event for him.

The rookie American also mentioned that it had been a great event, the fans had thronged to the course in their numbers and although most of them had come to see Scott, he was still happy that they cheered for him along the way.

Rickie Fowler stated that he immensely enjoyed his time at Gold Coast and he was looking forward to coming back very soon and would love to come back next year for the event if he is invited.

Furyk up one on Steve Stricker

Jim Furyk kept his fifty nine behind with a round which was ten shots higher in BMW Championship. An opportunity to win was all that mattered that made Saturday a huge success. Jim recovered from a slow beginning with 3 birdies in a 5 hole stretch across the turn. A 3 putt bogey from thirty feet on the par five 18th pushed him to settle for a two under sixty nine and a 1 shot lead over German golfer Steve Stricker.

Jim Furyk told that the target was to go out and shoot a good number, give him a spot to win this golf event. It could have been better out there. He dropped that shot at 18 he was disappointed for that. Probably, it was one of the easier holes of the day. But he got himself in good spot, so rather than dwell on the final hole, he would probably tend to want to think about tomorrow and what he have to do to try to win a golf event.

It was a different ending from Friday, when Jim Furyk shoot a wedge to three feet for birdie on the final hole (number nine) for a twelve under fifty nine, becoming just the 6th golf player in the history of the PGA Tour to score the magic number of the game.

None anticipated another round such as that from Jim, even though Matt Kuchar had a sixty one early in the day when conditions were favorable – with fast greens, firm fairways and increasing wind. 3 other golfers who had fifty nine in an earlier round came after with anything better than 68, but Jim did quite enough to offer himself a scope to end 3 years without a win.

Rory McIlroy confirms participation

Former two time major champion and the current world number three Rory McIlroy has confirmed his participation at this year’s Australian Open to be held at the Royal Sydney Golf Club between the 28th of November and 1st of December later this year, along with Australian golfer Adam Scott, according to a statement released by the organizers of the event.

This will, in all probability, be the last big tournament for the Northern Irishman this season and will mark his return to the tournament for the first time since 2007 when he played at the event when it was held in Melbourne, finishing tied for 15th. He last played at the Royal Sydney Golf Club when he was still an amateur, playing at the event in 2006 when he finished tied at 59th position back in 2006.

According to a statement released by Rory McIlroy, it has been quite a long time since he last participated in the Australian Open at Sydney when he was there as a 17 year old amateur golfer and then played at the event the following year in 2007 after just turning professional.

He mentioned that he had loved playing in Sydney and mentioned that he was very much looking forward to returning to the Royal Sydney Golf Club and renew his acquaintance with the course once again.

McIlroy has had a torrid season this time around having not won a single title throughout the year and not even finishing close to the leader at the end of an event and many have blamed the change of equipment that Rory McIlroy made this season and with fan favorite and world number four Adam Scott playing alongside him at the event, winning the title at the Australian Open will prove to be a lot difficult too.
