Phil Mickelson commits to St. Jude Classic

Legendary American golfer Phil Mickelson is going for a change of strategy as he builds up to the US Open this year, looking to leave behind a disappointing couple of seasons as he looks to mount a stronger challenge for the second major of the year. The legendary American left handed golfer, who has become synonymous with the sport in the United States along with Tiger Woods, has committed to play in the FedEx St. Jude Classic as he looks to get into momentum ahead of the US Open in a month’s time.

This a tournament that has not had the presence of Lefty for too long, and Mickelson has appeared only twice in the tournament, missing the cut back in 2001 and finishing with a T-59 the last time he participated in 2009. Phil Mickelson joins a strong field for the tournament, including defending champion Dustin Johnson, Ian Poulter and Brandt Snedeker to commit to the tournament as of now, which will take place between the 6th and 9th of June in Memphis, Arizona at the TPC Southwind.

Phil Cannon, the director of the tournament revealed to the media about the participation of Lefty in the tournament through a press release where he stated that he is not qualified to speak about such a legendary player and there is nothing left for him to say that has already not been said about the player.

Cannon went on to state that Phil Mickelson is, without a doubt, one of the greatest golfers of all time and it is a privilege for everyone associated with the tournament that he has decided to play in the tournament once again. Mickelson is a player who prefers playing the week before a major but didn’t play before The Masters but he is going back to his old habit again.
